Wheelchairs at Upland Hills Health |

[Dodgeville] – Grants from the United Fund of Iowa County and the Mineral Point Community Chest have made it possible for Upland Hills Health in Dodgeville to purchase wheelchairs that offer comfort and safety to a broader range of patients and visitors. Fifteen new ‘super’ wheelchairs have been added to the fleet. Two bariatric folding wheel chairs that tout extra width and the strength to support up to 650 pounds were purchased, along with 13 heavy-duty wheelchairs of varying widths that are capable of carrying up to 450 pounds each.

Each year Upland Hills Health serves about 1,200 inpatients, 37,000 outpatients, 10,000 emergency/urgent care visitors and delivers close to 300 babies. The needs of these patients and visitors vary greatly and a traditional wheelchair is often not sufficient for a growing number of people.

As healthcare services at Upland Hills Health have expanded, so has the size of the campus. The new wheelchairs make it easier and safer for staff, volunteers, family and friends to transport a patient or loved one throughout the facility.
